SUSTAINABILITY MYTHS πͺ’
Human beings have significantly lost the ability to think independently. They now prefer to accept everything as pre-made and ready without questioning it.
Human beings should focus more on developing their own abilities. Instead of applying someone else's ideas to themselves, they should create their own path. By doing so, their thinking will be broader, and they will be able to understand the true reality of life.
Not implementing something on our own and instead adopting pre-made ideas or solutions can lead to harm. When we blindly accept something from the media and share it without thinking, we may face consequences. No idea or concept should be adopted without proper understanding. This harms our own judgment and ego, as it prevents us from thinking critically and making informed decisions.
In our society, there are many misconceptions about sustainability, which are distancing people from the truth. Instead of adopting the right approach, they end up following wrong paths and face harm. These misunderstandings prevent people from truly understanding sustainability and making the right choices for their future.
Environment Sustainability
- When we hear in the news that people are falling ill due to bad weather in a certain city, instead of understanding the situation, we often ignore it. Rather than taking action, we overlook the fact that we can make a difference.
- For example, during winter, when smog makes people sick, we should focus on reducing the use of factories and cars to decrease smog levels. This would allow people to live in a cleaner environment.
- If we don’t learn to use things properly, how can we expect to live a healthy life? Sustainable practices are key to ensuring both our health and the environment remain protected.
Economic Sustainability
- Allah has created everything in a specific amount, and every resource is meant to be used correctly. However, wasting natural resources, misusing them, or using them selfishly is wrong.
- For example, if vegetables or fruits, or any resource created by Allah, are produced through improper methods like using chemicals or excessive exploitation, it will eventually harm humanity.
- Currently, we see that a lot of water is becoming salty and polluted due to human negligence. This is all a result of human shortsightedness. We must learn to use everything in the right way, without wasting it, to protect both the earth and future generations.
Social Sustainability
- To live in a peaceful environment, we must think not only about our own lives but also about the lives of others.
- If someone in our society is suffering from hardship, we should not leave them alone. Instead, we should stand by them and help in every way possible to alleviate the injustice they are facing.
- For the sake of humanity, we must consider the rights of every individual in our society and protect them. Only when we think about others will our lives truly improve and we will create a stronger, more compassionate society.
